Teemu Piirainen is a hands-on senior software developer and AI engineer who builds production-grade backend services, mobile applications, cloud platforms and AI-enabled software development systems.
His career spans more than 26 years in software, product development and delivery. During that time he has progressed from product management, project leadership and solution architecture into native mobile development, full stack engineering and, most recently, practical AI engineering. This broad background lets him connect business objectives, product decisions and technical implementation without losing sight of how software is actually built and operated.
Teemu works particularly well in complex and business-critical environments where reliability, security, maintainability and delivery ownership matter. His recent work includes high-volume telecom services, secure backend platforms, native iOS and Android applications, cloud-native infrastructure and production observability. That work spans telecom, medical technology, finance and consumer services.
A major focus of his current work is the practical use of AI and autonomous agents in software development. He designs AI-assisted workflows in which agents can plan, implement, review and validate software while architecture, quality gates and important product decisions remain under human control.
What distinguishes Teemu is not a single technology or job title. It is his ability to move between strategy, architecture and implementation, while remaining a hands-on developer who can take responsibility for delivering working software.
Outside software development, Teemu is often found exploring new ideas while cycling long distances around Finland. Many of his articles and development experiments have started as voice conversations with Nipsu (his AI companion) somewhere between Espoo and the next coffee stop.
